With the kind help from Mr. Kaz Eguchi, the owner of AKI Auto Service in San Mateo, CA, I finally kicked my butt to go for the complete restoration on my 81 GT.

I've own this car since 1981, originally purchased in Japan and imported to U.S. in 1982. Ever since then I have made some stupid minor mods everywhere. (I was young...) Now, I decided to make this car back to the original condition and hoping to participate in SevenStock. 

As to the genuine Mazda parts, Mr. Shimanuki from Tokyo Mazda helped me a big time. He listened to the naughty requests from me and accommodated me kindly.  Thank you very much, Shinmanuki-san!

Okay, I have been driving this car with tender loving care since I have purchased this car brand new in 1981, and I have never abused. But because of its age, small rusts and dents around the car, especially on the lower section of the entire body. Now it's time to do something good to my car.

On this restoration, I am going to use over 500 genuine parts I have collected for last 10 years, plus additional aftermarket parts.

I can't wait to see how it is going to come out like!!

First, rusty doors.  I have decided to replace with used doors in good condition. Initially, I have bought doors on the web from RX7HEAVEN.com for $450! for both doors but it came out to be junk!!  Take a look at this!

Fortunately, Kaz found good doors from 85 GSL.

It begins with junk doors and gave me a big thumbs down. Seems like long way to go....

But nothing can beat my passion to restore this car!!

Originally, this car was equipped with Manual Windows but I will upgrade to the Power Windows.  Windows will be replaced as well.

As major parts were taken out, you realize that this is really an old car for more than 25 years.

It's sad to see my car ripped off but I will make it like a brand new car!

The original paint is stripped to the metal, and carefully match the gap between doors and body.(2004.12)

The fenders were supposed to "fix" but we found that one major dents cannot be fixed. So I decided to replace them with the new ones.

The front valance panel is replaced with new one as well. New parts are always feel good!!

I don't like emblems so the holes will be filled.

The holes for the emblems will be filled with welding, not clay. Look like the face turn like alien... (2005.01)
